360 Virtual Tour - Mechanics, Behavior, and Selection of Materials Laboratory
This is a 360 degree virtual tour of the Mechanics, Behavior, and Selection of Materials Laboratory in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Cal Poly Pomona. For best results, go to Settings (the gear icon) and select at least 4k resolution. If you are using a mobile device (like a phone), move the phone to view different parts of the lab. If you are on a laptop or desktop computer, you can change the viewing angle by clicking and dragging the screen.
Students often take this course (ME 3501L) in their final year in the Mechanical Engineering program. Dr. Haghi is the director for this course.

Hello sir. Can you please help me with the solution for a 3D transient heat conduction equation with heat generation? I can't find it anywhere. So T(x,y,z,t) for a rectangular solid with heat generation taking the form of exponential decay and constant k. Has anyone ever solved this analytically? Thanks.

Thanks for the nice video, wonderful explanation! Regarding the empirical expressions that you mentioned for pipe flow development, they have been proven incorrect because they suggest that Le = 0 at creeping flows (Re =0 ). Instead, check the non-linear correlations provided by Durst et al., ASME J. Fluids Eng. 127, 1154-1160 (2005) for pipes and channels.

Has anyone determined why the kinematic viscosity of water is listed as 10^-5? Shouldn't it be 1.12*10^-6 , as stated in the same textbook that Dr. Biddle is referring to? By the way, I've been thoroughly enjoying all the lectures here. Thank you so much!

It's about units. If you use SI unit systems, it is 10^-5, and it is 1.12*10^-6 in british system.
